Arrows Review

Arrows by Melissa Gorzelancyk

Publication Date: January 26th, 2016

Genre: YA/Fantasy

I received a copy of this book from Random House Children’s at Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This book switches perspectives between Karma, a ballerina teen mom, and Aaryn, a cupid-in-training who accidentally messes up Karma’s life.
Karma’s boyfriend and baby daddy, Danny, was the main reason I didn’t care much for this book. Karma was clingy, annoying, and obsessive when it came to Danny, who treated her horribly. While this was because of an arrow that Aaryn shot at her, it made me really dislike her and the book. I like characters that are stronger, and Karma was not. Without Karma acting this way, though, the story would have no plot, so what really annoyed me was that her behavior was vital to the novel.
I don’t really know what else to say about this book besides that it was disappointing. If you don’t mind weak characters, this book is for you. Other than that, I wouldn’t recommend.

xx, Sophie
